La ciencia detrás del eslogan “Prolonga la juventud”

The science behind the slogan "Prolong youth"

Yes, as surprising as it may seem, this is how we wanted to define the action of Excellence's Advance Repair Cream: It prolongs youth. And this is not just another advertising claim. We are going to explain how its main ingredient works, with excellent anti-aging results.

As you know, the cells in our body regenerate continuously. This process is called the cell cycle and basically consists of the constant replication of cells. In the case of the skin, fibroblasts, which are responsible for creating collagen, are the cells that relate to the structure of the cutaneous connective tissue, its firmness, and its elasticity. And like all cells, they also duplicate and regenerate from the time we are born until we reach old age.

With the passage of time, this capacity of cells to duplicate or replicate diminishes, and this is what we know as cellular senescence. To give you an idea, fibroblasts can duplicate on average 50 times throughout their life, while from the age of 30 onwards, the number of duplications is reduced by 10% each decade.

But why does this happen? As you can imagine, the role of DNA in this process is vital, since it is what provides the genetic information necessary for this division to occur, and specifically, a part of the DNA called the telomere is primarily responsible.

Telomeres are the ends of the chromosomes that form DNA and that shorten after each cell division. When their size is reduced considerably after many duplications, there comes a time when that cell can no longer replicate and therefore dies.

But a discovery, worthy of a Nobel Prize, shed a glimmer of hope to slow down this process. This discovery was telomerase, the enzyme that feeds telomeres and allows them to maintain their length and resist more cellular replications over the years.

If that was key to slowing down the process of cellular senescence, we just had to find a substance capable of promoting telomerase in our body, and that is what was done. As a result of arduous research, a fraction of the roots of the Scutellaria Baicalensis plant was detected that fulfilled this function.

And as you can imagine, Scutellaria Baicalensis is the main ingredient of Advance Repair Cream, which we say prolongs youth. In-vitro studies have been developed on this ingredient that demonstrate its ability to activate the telomerase promoter (TERT) in human fibroblasts, as well as in-vivo studies on the effect that this increase in telomerase has on the skin.

The most significant results showed that the treated cells performed 5 additional cell divisions from the moment untreated cells entered senescence, that is, from their approximately 50th duplication. In conclusion, fibroblasts treated with Scutellaria Baicalensis replicated 10% more in this study.

If we said earlier that fibroblasts duplicate 10% less each decade and with this ingredient they are able to duplicate 10% more, cellular senescence is delayed and youth is prolonged.

And this effect translates into visible efficacy on the face: a 13% increase in skin restructuring is achieved, along with 12.5% more firmness and 12.4% more elasticity, according to the parameters measured in the in-vivo study.

If, in addition to Scutellaria Baicalensis, we add other ingredients to Advance Repair Cream that act synergistically to stimulate collagen and elastin and repair DNA, we can affirm that we will obtain an anti-aging, renewing, and restructuring effect on the skin. Now that we've told you about it, go ahead and try it to get results!
