As the human body can’t produce vitamin C by itself, we consume it in different ways. Lack of this vitamin, also called ascorbic acid, can cause problems in the growth and repair of tissues, as it helps to regenerate the skin.
We can eat it in different foods such as citrus fruits, kiwis, vegetables, etc.
In cosmetics, it’s a very well-known active ingredient due to its antioxidant action, able to counteract and reduce oxygen free radicals (ROS), decrease oxidative damage to the DNA and proteins, stimulate fibroblasts, collagen and elastin formation and reduce hyperpigmentation.
