Vitamin C is on everyone’s lips at Atache once again! It has so many virtues and we love sharing its secrets with you. Today we’ll be discovering the “why” behind its different formulations and their action. And particular we will be talking about liposomal vitamin C. Keep reading!
The skin needs high concentrations of vitamin C to stimulate collagen and maintain antioxidant protection against UV rays. Given that the body doesn’t do this alone, the nutritional supply of vitamins to the epidermis must be boosted.
The epidermis is the outermost layer of skin and it lacks blood vessels that transport substances ingested orally, meaning vitamin C must be added topically. There’s also another difficulty: the stratum corneum, which is the last layer of the epidermis, functions as a barrier that prevents the passage of many substances, especially those that are highly soluble and unstable like vitamin C. Consequently, selecting the formulation of vitamin C in dermocosmetics is of vital importance to ensure it‘s absorbed and has an antioxidant effect in the epidermis.
Over time, vitamin C derivatives that are more stable but less effective than pure vitamin C (ascorbic acid) have been used. Until Atache achieved molecule stability for the first time in history, in 1995, developing the famous C Vital Serum + Fluid. With this product, we obtained a form of vitamin C that would penetrate all layers of the epidermis and remain intact regarding its antioxidant power, allowing it to be truly effective against photodamage.
In recent years, there have been many discussions about liposomes, but do you really know what they are? Liposomes are small, spherical cells comprising an outer layer made from fatty acids known as phospholipids; these are nanoparticles that infiltrate the deepest layers of the epidermis thanks to their diminutive size.
Better penetration equates to better activity. Studies carried out show that the release of liposomes in the epidermis is 1000% greater compared with a non-liposomal product; in addition, it prevents vitamin C from being degraded and provides greater stability in the emulsion.
However, the most important aspect is it has a long-lasting effect. When liposomal vitamin C is applied to the skin, enzymes gradually separate it into ascorbic acid, causing a sustained release and, in turn, helping its effect to last longer.
For this reason, and thanks to its cocktail of liposomal antioxidants and probiotics, Blast C Antioxidant Cream can act with great efficacy. Whether used individually as a day cream or in combination with the Serum + Fluid, all skin types require that dose of vitamin C.
In short, the C Vital range continues to provide new solutions with a high antioxidant power, slowing ageing processes, capturing free radicals and deactivating them. We recommend you try it to discover its anti-ageing effect and ability to even tone for yourself, then let us know what you think about this new product.
