Centella asiatica is extracted from the Gotu Kola plant, which grows in Central Asia, parts of Africa, India, Japan, Sri Lanka and Indonesia, and has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for thousands of years due to its healing properties.
In cosmetics, it helps promote collagen synthesis and intracellular fibronectin content, improves the tensile strength of newly formed skin, and inhibits the inflammatory phase of hypertrophic scars and keloids.
It’s an antioxidant, source of amino acids and has soothing properties, which is why it’s commonly used in photoageing, cellulite and stretch mark treatments.
