Ageing is the set of morphological and physiological changes that appear as a consequence of the passage of time, affecting our body’s functions and vitality.

Skin ageing is caused by a series of factors that can be categorised as intrinsic or extrinsic. The former, also called chrono-ageing, is ageing due to genetic factors, and is unpreventable. Extrinsic causes, however, depend on multiple factors, such as sun exposure, tobacco and alcohol consumption, environmental pollution and an unbalanced diet, among others.

But how does this affect your skin? Over time, cell division rates decrease and the dermis begins to thin, the quantity and quality of collagen and elastin fibres decreases, the skin loses its ability to retain moisture and the hydrolipidic emulsion that protects the skin progressively decreases. ACTIVE INGREDIENTS

Pure Retinol, also known as Vitamin A, is one of the best-known ingredients, in terms of effectiveness, in the dermo-cosmetic industry. It has an important effect on the modulation of cell proliferation and differentiation, while stimulating collagen and elastin production. In addition, it increases enzyme activity and normalises keratinisation, which improves the cell renewal process. It acts on the skin, making it thicker and more elastic, in a way that reduces the number, length, width and depth of expression lines and wrinkles. It also reinforces the skin’s antioxidant capacity and helps fade dark spots, dramatically improving the skin’s appearance.

Coenzyme Q10 has, on the one hand, an important role in eliminating free radicals and on the other hand, it inhibits collagen deterioration. Another of its functions is to produce energy in the cells and fight UVA-induced oxidative stress. This energy is involved in the immunoprotection, regeneration and repair of cell damage and dysfunction. Q10 is the perfect complement to Retinol, as it reinforces its action and effects.

Retinyl Palmitate is a retinol derivative that can be applied during the day (you’ll find this in the day cream). It acts in a similar way to retinol, although it’s less reactive and less intense.

Shea Butter is a well-known ingredient with powerful nourishing, softening and restoring properties. It’s also a powerful natural cell regenerator. It provides vitality and radiance and improves the skin barrier, thus preventing excessive dehydration and protecting it from climatic aggressors and pollution. It’s very effective in regenerating ageing, dry, dehydrated, irritated and dull skin.

Marine glycosaminoglycan (MDI Complex®) inhibits enzymes that degrade and destroy the skin’s collagen network, improving collagen bioavailability. It makes skin look healthy and fresh, reducing the appearance of dark circles, spider veins, redness, etc. It also repairs the skin’s barrier function, making it more resistant to damage caused by external factors.

Acetyl tetrapeptide (Eyerseryl) is a protein active ingredient that’s proven to be effective in soothing and calming the skin. It offers a decongestant effect against the formation of oedema due to poor lymphatic circulation or high capillary permeability. It inhibits collagen degradation and prevents loss of elasticity and under-eye puffiness.
